How to create your first radius
Enable precise location, sign in, and create your first Radiuschat radius to start a conversation with people nearby.
A radius is a location-based chat around a real place. Create one where you are, give it a name, and start a conversation with other Radiuschat users in the same area.
Allow precise location
Turn on your phone’s location services and allow Radiuschat to access your location while you use the app. Make sure Precise Location is enabled, not just approximate location.
Radiuschat uses your device’s location to place your radius on the map and check whether you are inside a radius. If you previously allowed only approximate location, you can change this in your phone’s app permission settings.
Sign in
Tap Login and choose how you want to get started:
- Choose an available username and tap Continue to create a temporary account.
- Use Sign in with Google on Android.
- Use Sign in with Apple on iPhone.
Review and accept the terms when prompted to finish signing in.
Create your radius
Once the map has found your location:
- Tap the + button.
- Enter a Radius name of up to 40 characters. A simple name such as “Coffee nearby” helps people understand what the conversation is about.
- Adjust Radius size. With a free account, you can choose a radius from 10 to 50 metres around your current location.
- Tap Create radius.
With a free account, your radius stays active for one day, and you can have one active radius at a time.
Start the conversation
Open your radius’s chat and say hello. You could ask a question, share a local tip, or invite people nearby to join a conversation.
Other Radiuschat users need to be physically inside the radius, with their device location inside its boundary, to join the chat. For an open radius, anyone inside can join and chat with you. If you add access restrictions, such as a PIN or approval requirement, those apply too.
Make your profile your own
Open Settings → Account to adjust your username, first name, last name, and bio. Tap your avatar in Settings to choose a profile photo from your gallery.
A name and photo can make it easier for people to recognise you in the conversation. Share only the profile details you are comfortable making visible to others.
